I would absolutely love some fantasy romance stories! They can be cheesy or cliche, I don't care. But here's some stuff that I like and don't like so much.
Likes
-Well built world as a background - I don't want to read a history book of the world, but seeing the details where it is relevant is one of my favorite parts
-Interesting, dynamic characters
-Swords
-Strong female characters
-Positive portrayal of LGBT stuff
-Interesting subplot. Or the romance could just be a subplot to a fantasy story. Either way.
Dislikes
-Characters falling in love almost immediately. I don't care if one of them is all like love at first sight, or even both, but there has to be some barrier to the relationship to overcome
-Whiny females
-Whiny males too, but they're slightly more tolerable I suppose. As long as they're not too whiny. Luke Skywalker whining levels are about my limit and that's severely pushing it.
-Sex scenes. Yeah, I know. It's romance. People include these. I've written them myself. But I actually like it better without. Or with only one. I mostly don't want it to be basically porn.
-Flat, two-dimensional characters
None of the dislikes alone will automatically make me hate the story and not want to read it. So really, this is just a guideline to help you determine the chances of me liking the story. But the list below are absolute - I don't want any stories with these elements.
Elements that will make me hate the story without even reading it solely based on principle because seriously, WTF?
-Any glorification of abuse or rape. I don't care who does it to whom. NO. FUCK NO. DO NOT WANT.
-NO GLORIFICATION OF RAPE WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE DO THIS?
-Things like homophobia and sexism as overall themes and having them portrayed positively. I don't care if some characters have these opinions, but I don't want the whole point of the story to be like, "I hate gay people" or something.
-NO GLORIFICATION OF ABUSE OR RAPE
