When writing romance scenes, don't describe things like you're in a biology class. I almost wrote something about someone's "ventral side."

When writing romance scenes, don't describe things like you're in a biology class. I almost wrote something about someone's "ventral side." OMG That's so funny, but true. My tip: Don't write mechanically. Your story isn't a rule book, try to be creative and approach scenes differently. Shake it up!

I'm so used to thinking about animals using terms like ventral or proximal that it just comes out naturally. I think just about the only one I could really get away with in a story is posterior. Maybe dorsal if I'm talking about sharks or whales.
I totally had another tip I was going to share and I forgot it. I'll think of it again in a few days.

Show, don't tell. Don't tell the readers that your character is angry, show us his angry face and how his fists clenched as his face grew red.
Use the five senses when describing. What does your character see, touch, smell, taste, and hear.
